David and I will be trying a three-day version of our course on exploratory testing. In the course we look at some of the heuristics we use, review how we structure and manage our testing, and spend a large balance of time (more than 50%) testing real products. It's a hands on course, tailored to those who learn by doing.

In this workshop we will focus on those aspects of testing where we write code. There will be a strong focus on performance, automation, and security testing. A lot of discussion around tools, languages, frameworks, and design patterns. We will be looking for experience reports from people willing to share project stories, examples, and we would be willing to entertain proposals for hands-on coding activities during the workshop.

I'll be speaking at the 26th Annual Pacific Northwest Software Quality Conference. The theme this year is Collaborative Quality.
The Association for Software Testing (AST) is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and practice of software testing. The AST serves a community of scholars, students, and software development practitioners by providing forums for discussion of all aspects of software testing through conferences, publications, web sites, and other services.
The Indianapolis Workshops on Software Testing (IWST) are an ongoing series of no-cost workshops for experienced software testers and related professionals. IWST strives to build skills in software testing and allows people who are interested in topics in software testing to network with their peers. The emphasis is on mutual learning, sharing hands-on experiences and solving practical problems.
We are suspending activities related to the Open Certification project in support of the AST BBST courses which we feel will provide the industry with its first skills-based exam. We see it as a more impactful and difficult goal then the Open Certification project. We hope to reuse the work done to date in the Open Certification project and we hope to redirect some of the work we have yet to start.
Indianapolis Lutheran High School was kind enough to involve me in one of their AP English class assignments. We created a website to showcase some of the students work.
